The second day of the Thailand Women’s T20 Smash showed that Thailand, hosts and highest rated team in the competition, would have some serious opposition in this tournament. UAE had already shown they were an up and coming power in women’s cricket by pushing Thailand hard in the last ICC T20 qualifying event and today they gave another indication of their talent by absolutely smashing China by the remarkable margin of 189 runs
.
UAE scored 203 for 3 in their 20 overs as Esha Oza made 82 but worse was to follow for the Chinese as they were dismissed for just 14 to suffer a heartbreaking defeat. UAE now have two wins out of two but their record was matched by Indonesia and Nepal who beat Myanmar and Malaysia respectively. Indonesia won by 52 runs and Nepal won by six wickets.
Bhutan women’s team made a welcome return to international cricket and they gave a good account of themselves against Hong Kong before being beaten by three wickets. Thailand and Thailand A both had a day off on Sunday but will both be back in action on Monday but Thailand now know they will have to perform at their best to win this competition as their main rivals are playing some impressive cricket.
