Malaysia won the of final South East Asia Cricket Championship . Malaysia beat Hong Kong by 8 wickets in an exciting final at Prem.They showed the benefits both of good preparation and plenty of competitive crickets before the tournament and they were carried towards their triumph by a great team spirit and a will to win for their country.
Malaysia chose to field first and Hong Kong expertly paced their innings to reach 90 for 10 in their 30 overs. Hong Kong Captain Anshuman Rath and Suhaib Ahmad start well for his team but after that no one get runs for Hong Kong. Malaysian’s spinner successful to make an impact . Niroshan De Silva and Thejas Rajah were impressive in taking 3 wickets each for Malaysia. Malaysia reaches their target very easily losing only 2 wickets. Captain Pasha Shafiq was not out for 25 and Mohammad Faiz Ahmad was 35. Niroshan De Silva from Malaysia got player of the match award . Thailand beat Singapore by five wickets at Prem to finish in third place as player of the tournament Kushal with an innings of 55. Hong Kong’s Ansuman Rath and Malaysia’s Mohammad Anwar A Rahman were batsman and bowler of the tournament .Niroshan De Silva from Malaysia got player of the match award in final .
South East Asia under 14 Cricket Championship will take place in Chiang Mai from the 20th to the 24 th of April, 2011. Thailand is the host of this tournament where total 4 countries will play for this championship from South East Asia. The countries are Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore. The Cricket Association of Thailand is pleased to announce the following squad for the South East Asian Championships to be played in Chiang Mai, The squad for this year’s competition is a completely new side made up of young players from all over Thailand who have all come through the Cricket Association of Thailand’s development programme. It is an exciting opportunity for these young boys to compete with teams from three other South Asian countries and gain great experience from playing 3 matches in four days, as well as being able to meet with the others players from different countries. Each team will play its fellow group members in a 35 overs match, the top two teams will progressing to the final while the 3rd and 4th place team from the group will play for 3rd and 4th position in the championships.
