With the South East Asian Games (SEA) in Jakarta 2011 around the corner, CAT conducted its preliminary training camp with 30 boys and girls from national squads along with some new boys and girls from different provinces. All participants were ethnic Thais. CAT continuously picks and builds a pool of new talented players from different provinces and school. Most of the players are aged between 14 to 16 years old. Similar to the initiation of the senior women’s side, the U-19s team also consists of grass root players. A training camp was held form 10th -14th August 2011 at the Bangkok Patana School, and Sports Authority of Thailand facility. The training camp was conducted by the national women’s coach Shan Kader and junior coach Shafiqul Haque Titas. The three day training camp was separated into two sessions which consisted of fitness programs in the morning at Sports Authority of Thailand, followed by net sessions in the afternoon. At the last day of the training camp the players competed in two practice games. The senior players within the squad motivated all the new players and as a result built team spirit and experience consequently showing in the practice games. With many more camps and centralized trainings both the boys and girls will achieve a higher grade of both mental and physical fitness. Furthermore the Thai team looks confident and strong to compete in the upcoming SEA games.
