Thailand women’s cricket team’s preparations for the SEA Games are going perfectly to plan as they are taking part in the Malaysian T20 Women’s Series where they have just played three matches in three days and won two of three.

Under the lights at Kinrara Oval on Sunday Thailand beat Tanzania by 75 runs with an impressive all-round performance. Nattakan Chantham scored 60 from just 43 balls and 16 year old Nannapat Khoncharoenka gave good support with 44 in a total of 140 for 6 in 20 overs. Tanzania could make only 65 as Chanida Sutthiruang took two early wickets and captain Sornnarin Tippoch finished things off with 3 for 6.

Sri Lanka Army will provide Thailand with some strong opposition this week so the Thai girls would have been pleased to bowl them out for 123 as Ratanaporn Padunglerd took 3 for 27. Rain brought an early end to the match with Thailand on 43 for 4 after 10.4 overs as Sri Lanka Army won by 21 runs on the Duckworth Lewis method.

Thailand’s most important match so far came against hosts Malaysia who could be gold medal contenders next month. Thailand have just completed an outstanding victory by 10 wickets as they restricted Malaysia to 54 for 8 as Chanida and Ratanaporn were again impressive with the new ball as the first three Malaysian batters all made ducks.

It was the batting combination of Nattakan who hit 43 from 23 balls with eight fours and young Nannapat who expertly rotated the strike that saw Thailand race to victory by 10 wickets in just 6.3 overs.

There will be another three league matches to come as well as a final and 3rd place play-off so Thailand are enjoying plenty of match practice.

#FIGHTFORGOLD is looking good for the girls.
