MATCH 5

TANZANIA GAIN THEIR FIRST WIN OF COMPETITION

Tanzania had lost to hosts Thailand in their first match on the previous afternoon but they turned their fortunes around in the morning match as they beat Malaysia by 44 runs. Captain Monica Pascal had impressed against Thailand when she scored 31 and was in the runs again as she batted throughout the innings to score an unbeaten 46 as she saw her team to a total of 100 for 4. Malaysia had also lost to Thailand in their opening match and they struggled with the bat again as only opener Yusrina Yaakop reached double figures. Tanzania won their first points as Zinaida Finkili and Mwanaidi Ammy both took three wickets.

MATCH 6

INDONESIA OVERCOME BHUTAN IN LOW-SCORING CONTEST

Both Indonesia and Bhutan had won their first matches in the Asean T20 and so it was interesting to see how the two sides would compare when they met in the afternoon match on the third day. It was a low-scoring contest as Bhutan were bowled out for just 48 but the Asian side fought back strongly against the side from the East Asia Pacific region before Indonesia won by four wickets as they reached their target of 49 for the loss of six wickets in exactly 10 overs. Indonesia join Thailand on four points from two matches but the hosts are still top of the table on net run-rate.
