Thailand Women recovered brilliantly to beat Zimbabwe by 78 runs in the first match in a three match ODI series.
Left-arm spinner Thipatcha Puthawong claimed the headlines by taking six wickets for six runs as Zimbabwe collapsed to 76 all out.
But the victory was also down to a determined innings of 57 not out from captain Naruemol Chaiwai as Thailand recovered from 21 for 4 to a total of 154 which gave the home side a chance in the field.
Nattaya Boochatham scored 25 in a fifth-wicket partnership of 64 with her captain and Chaiwai batted through the rest of the innings as Kelis Ndhlovu took 5 for 22 with her left-arm spin.
Zimbabwe started very well as the reached 47 for one after nine overs but the Thai spinners shared nine wickets as only 29 more runs were added.
Putthawong was impressive and won the player of the match award but Nattaya Boochatham was as steady as ever and Suleeporn Laomi took 2 for 13 with her leg-spin.
Thailand now has a perfect 5-0 record in official Women’s ODIs.
