THAILAND WOMEN START THEIR WORLD CUP QUALIFYING CAMPAIGN
Thailand are playing in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier for the third time.
They have travelled to Pakistan to compete against Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and Scotland to win the last two places in the next 50-over World Cup to be held in India.
Thailand lost all three matches in 2017 but had a fantastic record of three wins in four matches in 2021 when the tournament was abandoned because of Covid.
Their victories came against Zimbabwe, USA and Bangladesh who they play today in Lahore.
Thailand had restricted Bangladesh to 176 for 8 in 50 overs as Nattaya Boochatham took five wickets and had reached 132 for 2:in the 40th over to be declared winners on DLS by 16 runs as Sornnarin Tippoch hit 69.
Nine members of that victorious team are still in Thailand’s squad and they can be inspired by Scotland beating West Indies on the opening day.
