Thailand’s Coaches – Up To The Test?
February 20, 2011

The Thai women’s team originated in July, 2007 when they played their first ACC women’s tournament in Malaysia against 7 other countries. Since then the women’s team has only matured, multiplied and developed in all aspects of cricket. From young girls playing in provinces to the U-19s and senior national sides, all have steadily improved their own games and also built recognition for the sport in Thailand. Many from the pioneer team have further educated themselves through local CAT organized courses and from ACC courses ranging from umpiring and coaching. One prime example has been Narumon Srisuwan who has excelled in all corners of cricket from playing, coaching and administration. Her enthusiasm and desire to learn cricket has made her to stand out from everyone else. Narumon has been part of the team since the very beginning and has been a terrific team member and support since. Narumon, an ACC Level 1 Coach and ACC Level 1 Umpire was assigned to schools and Burapha University to coach the newer and next generation. Narumon further spent a few years working at the CAT office assisting in administration work and mainly organizing domestic level tournaments.

Narumon today has received a full scholarship from Chinese Culture University, Taipei to attend a 2 year Masters Degree Course in Sports Coaching Science. Her involvement in cricket has not only assisted her to shape her academic ability but also has provided a direction and encouragement for all the other players. “I owe all this to my involvement in cricket and the support received from the Cricket Association. I am sure many will get such opportunities in the future with their involvement in cricket” says Narumon. The scholarship will broaden Narumon’s knowledge in Sports Science and once she returns there will be a bigger window of opportunity for her.
