Thailand Cricket was recently introduced to Holistic Sports Medicine where 25 Players and Coaches from various different provinces participated In a 2 day course/ Workshop conducted in Bangkok, Thailand on the 9th and the 10th of July 2012.

The Course/ Workshop was Conducted by Dr. Jatin Nandhal Valia of India who is a well renowned Homoeopathic Doctor with more than 20 years of experience in sports medicine. He has worked with the Indian Hockey team, Indian Athletics team and even the Indian Navy. The workshop covered various topics such as Pharmacology, Sports Medicine Terminology, Sport Injuries and discussed potential careers in sports medicine and holistic therapies.

The aim of this workshop was to educate local coaches and players about the holistic approaches to fast and efficient recover from various injury and methods that will teach them to avoid further injury to themselves or their players.

This course addresses proper evaluation methods, treatment and rehabilitation techniques for common sports injuries and teaches appropriate usage of common first aid tools, such as taping, applying heat or cold packs were demonstrated.

All participant discussed and learned to deal with traumatic injuries that have or would result from sports accidents. Techniques of Stabilizing acute injuries to the head, back bones and neck were the key component of this course. The workshop also demonstrated Yoga exercises, such as pranayama, Savasan, and techniques to increase concentration.

Dr. Jatin Nandhal Valia said that “It is very important for players to know instant recovery systems and ways to concentrate in the game also the routine they need to follow in order to keep themselves fit. “

Overall the course was a great introduction to holistic medicine for Thailand Cricketers and coaches. A programmed approach to implementing and re-educating others of what Dr. Jatin Nandhal Valia demonstrated in the two days has been developed. Further follow up workshops have been planned for the near future.
